Frequently Asked Questions
Question #1: What insurances does Mid-Michigan Therapy take?
Answer: We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Blue Care Network (BCN), Aetna, Priority Health, McLaren Health, Blue Care Complete, and McLaren Medicaid. We also offer private pay and sliding scale options starting at $125 for individuals

Question #2: Do you offer in-person therapy in East Lansing or just telehealth?
Answer: We offer both! You can see our therapists in-person at our East Lansing office (located right off the 127 highway near Meijer on Lake Lansing Rd), or you can attend virtual tele-therapy sessions from anywhere in Michigan. Lots of our clients do a hybrid approach and meet both in-person and over tele-therapy with our therapists.

Question #3: Do you have therapists who specialize in trauma and ADHD?
Answer: Yes. Our clinicians have specialties in trauma-informed care, ADHD, Autism, and anxiety. We utilize evidence-based models like Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Exposure, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Response Prevention (ERP) to go beyond surface symptoms and address root causes.

Question #4: How long does a therapy session take and how often do we meet?
Answer: A standard individual therapy session lasts 50 to 55 minutes. Most clients begin by meeting weekly or bi-weekly to work on establishing a relationship with the therapist and form treatment goals, and then decrease frequency as they meet their clinical goals.

Question #5: What happens during a first therapy session / intake?
Answer: Your first session is an intake appointment where your therapist will get to know you, review your background, and discuss your specific goals. This is also an opportunity for you to get to know your therapist, asking about their experience and commonly used therapy models as well as share what therapy approaches have and have not been helpful for you in the past.

Question #6: How do you match me with a therapist?
Answer: We take a person-centered approach to matching clients to therapists. When you reach out, our intake coordinator reviews your specific goals, preferred therapy style, your insurance, whether you are looking to work with a male or female therapist and scheduling needs to pair you with the clinician who best aligns with your healing journey.
