Jen, can you share with me what went into your decision to become a therapist? Yeah. So, I mean, I've dealt with my own stuff throughout my life, depression, anxiety. I've had people in my life deal with their own mental health stuff. Um, and you know, kind of on that same coin, I've also seen how impactful good mental health care can be. Um, like personally for myself, I I was terrified of driving for a lot of my life. I didn't get my license until I was 22. Um, and so I I kind of started going to my own therapy for that reason. And, you know, we started out really slow, sitting in the driver's seat of the car, driving around the block. And you know, it it could get kind of intense at times, but I'm really glad I did it because, you know, now I'm a licensed driver. I can drive myself to work. I can go to the grocery store. I can do all the things. And that has, you know, literally opened up my world. So, um, it's been really impactful for for me. It has changed my life in a lot of ways. Um, so I knew I kind of wanted to do that for other people even, you know, before seeking my own therapy, but that that was really, you know, yeah, this is what I want to do. Jen, tell me about some of your ideal clients and the issues that you're helping them with. Yeah. So, I really enjoy working with um I have a lot of experience working with college students. Um I really enjoy working with members of the LGBTQ plus community and neurodyiverse folks are definitely my jam as well. Um, so I think the common thread between all those groups is really wanting to find that community and maybe struggling with the social aspect of things. Um, wanting to find those people that are really going to understand you and like you for you. And, you know, if you maybe have multiple identities, that can get a little bit tricky. Um, you know, I'm imagining a college student. You know, it's their first week on campus. They're looking around. They're wondering, you know, who are going to be my people for the next four years? And kind of dealing with maybe self-doubt, you know, how do I approach this person? You know, am I going to be annoying? Are they going to like me? Um, and those are all, you know, very valid feelings, but you know, how can we learn to kind of deal with that discomfort and do the hard thing and find those people, find our community, find those people that are going to really appreciate us and love us for all parts of ourselves. Um, so that's what I would really enjoy helping clients navigate and um, just finding those people. What are some of the common therapy interventions you use with clients? Yeah. So, I'd say that I generally take a pretty strength-based approach. So, um, what that means is I'm not focusing on what's wrong with you, but rather focusing on those strengths that you already naturally have and using those to kind of push you towards your therapeutic goals and build the life that you want.
