Damaris, can you share a little bit about why you and I started Mid Michigan Therapy and why our slogan means so much to you? Yeah, of course. Um, may you and I started Mid Michigan Therapy um, in part because we wanted to create an environment that was very collaborative. We wanted clinicians to have more opportunities for consultation and we believed just the power of that community. Um, which does lead into our slogan. So, we believe that healing happens together. Um, and there is a little backstory about that. My son, we was like learning how to race and he got really excited about everyone crossing the finish line together and so he would be like, "Let's win together." So, in one of our meetings, I was like, "Well, why don't we have our slogan be or some somehow it got to that about like healing happens together, like let's heal together." You would like to heal with us, please reach out. You can call or email or fill out the contact form on our website.
About Damaris
I love stories. Therapy is a lot like reading a book, you have a vague idea of what to expect from the name and introduction, but the more you read the more the story comes together. There are highs and lows, and sometimes things can be a bit unexpected. This is what I love about being a therapist. I get to help my clients as they put together their story. The highs are happier and the lows are more manageable when we can share them with someone.
I primarily use tools from emotionally focused therapy, person centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness in working with anxiety, depression, eating disorders/disordered eating, life transitions, and couples therapy.
I received my Master of Arts Degree in Professional Counseling from Cornerstone University. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and History from Central Michigan University.
I am a member of the American Counseling Association and the International Center of Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
